- Is a Jheri curl bad for your hair?
- It is a double chemical process — the hair is relaxed first and then permed — so it is one of the harsher services there is. It also has to stay wet with activator, which is where its reputation comes from.
- How long does a Jheri curl last?
- The curl itself holds about three months before the new growth needs re-doing. The daily part is the activator, which is not optional if you want it to look like the reference rather than like dry damaged hair.
