- Is the rat tail actually back?
- It cycles. It has had a run every decade since the eighties and is currently doing the rounds again on social media, mostly worn knowingly. Whether that counts as back is between you and your barber.
- How do you grow out a rat tail?
- You cut it off. That is the advantage of it — the tail is isolated from the rest of the cut, so removing it leaves you with whatever short cut you were already wearing, on the same day.
